Friday 18th December 2009 : Piano Concerti - Soloist DINAH LEVINE
Piano Concerto K. 449 - Soloist: Dinah Levine by MOZART
Piano Concerto K. 107 No. 2 by MOZART/J.C.BACH

The three small piano concertos K 107 are arrangements of piano sonatas by JC Bach, that the boy Mozart reworked for his own use at public concerts.
It has been assumed that the young prodigy was around 14 when he created these two movement works, but it is probable that he was only 9 years old.

The piano concerto in Eb Major K449 dates from 1784 and is generally regarded as Mozart's first mature work in the genre. He seemed to be aware of this himself, because in a letter to his father he described the work as being “of a peculiar kind”.
It can be performed with a full orchestra or with a chamber group and was written for his pupil Barbara Ployer, an accomplished pianist.
